LEC staff served as the manager on the consulting service to assist the Health Care Financing Administration in validating the accuracy and completeness of the accounts receivable balances at September 30, 1998 and March 31, 1999, as well as the activity for the first six months of the fiscal year 1999. In FY 1998, medicare claims totaled $210 billion from which over $22 billion of accounts receivable activity was generated. The service resulted in 15 medicare contractors' reports documenting observations, corrective actions and the best practices.
